On Wednesday 14 May 2025, Bureau Biosecurity will be organising the first international biosecurity symposium. Internationally renowned speakers will talk about biosecurity and dual-use.

As in previous years, the Biosecurity Knowledge Day attracted many enthusiastic participants this year. The Knowledge Day focused a lot on Artificial Intelligence.

During the Biosecurity Knowledge Day, the Biosecurity Escaperoom was launched. In the escaperoom, participants take on the challenge of solving a biosecurity scenario.

In the fall, several publications were published that are important for biosecurity. The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI-bio) published a report on the management of risks of biodesign tools.

Last year, the Biosecurity Office developed the 'Dual-Use Quickscan'. This new online tool has been available in Dutch and English since the spring.

Here we present another current scenario with regard to biosecurity. This time it is a scenario about cyber attacks.

Before the corona crisis, the Biosecurity Office regularly attended meetings abroad with the aim of sharing knowledge, gaining knowledge and networking.

As of November 2019, CWA 15793 Laboratory biorisk management standard has been converted to ISO 35001: 2019 Biorisk management for laboratories and other related organizations.

Due to continued success, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will again organize a seminar on export control of strategic goods.
