The Biosecurity Office looks back with great enthusiasm on a successful first edition of the International Biosecurity Symposium. The symposium took place prior to the EBSA conference in Maastricht. More than 200 experts from around the world gathered to hear the latest insights on biosecurity.
The program of the first International Biosecurity Symposium covered a wide range of biosecurity and dual-use topics. Practical examples from countries such as Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, and other parts of the world were addressed in presentations by Filippa Lentzos, Maria Espona, Cyril Martel, Marcel van Bergen, James Paulley, and Kathrin Summermatter, who each shared valuable insights and expertise. In addition, Jaime Yassif provided insights into emerging technologies and Dana Perkins reflected on developing a culture of biosafety and biosecurity, providing in-depth perspectives.
The evaluation shows that we can look back on a highly successful day. For a glimpse of the event, please visit our website, where you can find photos of the symposium and PDF versions of the presentations: https://www.bureaubiosecurity.nl/symposium
